SH. K.K. MANAN, SENIOR ADVOCATE ( CHAIRMAN ) Bar Council of Delhi
Shri K.K. Manan, Senior Advocate is a renowned criminal lawyer and a popular figure in the legal fraternity of the nation. It is pertinent to mention that he belongs to an agriculturist family. His father was a farmer and as such he is a first generation lawyer who has reached pinnacles of professionalism by sheer dedication and devotion to the legal profession. He was declared elected unopposed as Chairman of Bar Council of Delhi with effect from 07.12.2022. Sh. Manan is a very popular leader among the legal fraternity, and lawyers repose full faith and confidence in his judicious approach towards tackling all issues related to the legal fraternity. Sh. K.K. Manan remained General Secretary of New Delhi Bar Association, Patiala House Court three times and was also President of New Delhi Bar Association, Patiala House Court three times. From 1991 to 1993, he was also appointed as Central Government Standing Counsel in Delhi High Court and also was the public prosecutor during this tenure in Delhi High Court. He was conferred with the special status as a Special Prosecutor in the defamation case of the then Prime Minister Shri H.D. Deve Gowda, which speaks volumes about his professional aptitude. With regard to the Bar Council of Delhi, he has been an elected member of the Council for the successive 5th term and this is his third stint as Chairman of Bar Council of Delhi as he was also the Chairman of Bar Council of Delhi twice earlier i.e. from March, 2007 to August, 2008 and again from July 2014 to 2018. Shri K.K. Manan is a prolific writer and orator and has been appearing in all the prominent legal debates on social media platforms as well as all prominent news channels of the nation.
